As a seventh grade Language Arts teacher, I really love the subject and age group I teach. The middle school age child is metamorphosing into a very unique being. As they are experiencing changes in their physical and personal lives; I hope to inspire changes that are beneficial to their mental growth. My goal is to impart an understanding that the words we read and write are the stories of who we are, and their is nothing to me that is more exciting to learn than our own stories of a people. It is the realization that we never change who we are inside. We are the same now as in Shakespeare's time, as in Biblical times, and continuing back even before the time when Homer wrote the Odyssey. We all share similar journeys. This year in our English Language Arts class, I hope to impart in your child a deeper analytical style of reading and hopefully a passion for utilizing the written word.
